Brazil has eliminated import tariffs for almost a thousand IT, telecommunications, and medical equipment products, but has decided to keep taxes unchanged on GPUs, essential components for data centers and artificial intelligence.
The decision was made by the Executive Management Committee of the Foreign Trade Chamber (Gecex-Camex), based on the understanding that the products covered by the reduction are not produced domestically or that local manufacturing is insufficient to meet domestic market demand.
In the specific case of GPUs, although Brazil also does not produce this equipment, the government chose not to include them on the exemption list.
The list includes 970 products classified as Capital Goods (BK) and Information Technology and Telecommunications Goods (BIT), with some of them being provisional in nature.
Among the items benefiting are medications for the treatment of diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and schizophrenia, as well as agricultural inputs, textile products, hops for breweries, and items used in hospital nutrition. Some computing products are also included.

The measure aimed to update recent Camex decisions, especially Gecex resolutions No. 780/2025 and No. 781/2025, which had raised import tariffs for various equipment.
Despite this, Gecex decided to maintain the tariffs on video cards, printed circuit boards with components, and digital processing units intended for servers and data centers.
The maintenance of tariffs is taking place amid pressures from the technology industry and data center operators, who advocate the exemption of this equipment as a way to reduce the costs of deploying digital infrastructure in the country.
GPUs are essential components for intensive data processing and for training artificial intelligence models.
For companies, the taxation on these boards makes data center installation projects more expensive and limits Brazil’s competitiveness in the race for investments in AI infrastructure.
Antidumping
In addition to the tariff changes, the Gecex meeting also addressed trade defense measures. The application of definitive antidumping duties for five years was approved on imports of ethanolamines originating from China and polyethylene resins from the United States and Canada.
In this latter case, the committee decided to reduce the amounts of the anti-dumping duty to the provisional levels in force over the last six months, with the aim of avoiding additional impacts on the production chain.
